Forsyth County seeks an intermediate level Trades Specialist to maintain HVAC systems across 50+ County properties, including the Law Enforcement Detention Center and parks facilities. Primary duties include preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment.

Requires high school diploma or GED and 3+ years of HVAC maintenance, valid NC driver’s license, ability to read blueprints, and knowledge of building automation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 3+ years HVAC maintenance experience.
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of HVAC vocabulary and building automation programs.
  • Ability to perform manual labor and operate HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs general HVAC components.
  • Troubleshoot residential HVAC units (voltage, fuses, belts, coils).
  • Repair/replace components (motors, compressors, capacitors, pumps, belts).
  • Calibrates pneumatic thermostats.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and navigates Building Automation systems.
  • Processes daily work orders and escorts contractors at Forsyth County facilities.
  • Assists in special projects (pumps, compressor changes, after-hours maintenance).
  • Supports Skilled Trades Specialists.
