Job summary

Forsyth County (NC) is seeking a Trades Specialist, an intermediate HVAC technician, to perform preventive maintenance and repairs across county properties, including the Law Enforcement Detention Center and parks facilities. The role requires reading blueprints, following specifications, using HVAC tools, and navigating building automation systems.

A high school diploma and HVAC experience are required, along with a valid NC driver’s license and the ability to pass CJIS background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least three years of HVAC maintenance experience.
• Valid NC driver's license is required.
• CJIS Security Policy background check required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs general HVAC components across county facilities.
• Performs routine troubleshooting on HVAC units including voltage checks, fuses, belts, and coils.
• Repairs/replacements of residential HVAC components such as motors, compressors, capacitors, pumps, and belts.
• Adjusts and calibrates thermostats and sensors.
• Performs preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and building automation systems.
• Navigates Building Automation systems and updates work orders.
• Escort outside contractors and participate in special maintenance projects.
• Assist skilled trades specialists as needed.
