Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required and three years of progressive experience in trades such as HVAC, electric, plumbing, carpentry, masonry or painting.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license required.
  • Physical ability to perform lifting (20–50 lbs, up to 100 lbs occasionally) and work in varied environments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, replace, and repair county buildings and grounds including HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, welding and light electrical work.
  • Perform general carpentry for floors, roofs, stairs, doors, windows, and screens.
  • Maintain heating and cooling systems, alarm systems, water systems, and doors.
  • Review work orders, plans, specs, and technical instructions.
  • Adhere to safety procedures when operating tools and machinery.
