Job summary

Alamance County Government is seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist (HVAC) to maintain and repair HVAC systems across county facilities. The role emphasizes multi-trade knowledge, with emphasis on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing systems, and may involve supervising teams.

The individual will work 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with on-call rotation for evenings/weekends. EPA 608 certification and NC driver's license are preferred, and benefits include health, retirement, and leave

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 4 years of commercial/industrial HVAC maintenance experience.
• EPA Section 608 certification preferred; valid NC driver's license required.
• Must meet Alamance County Vehicle Use Policy and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains varied heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Performs general and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Ensure that all installations are done in accordance with set standards.
• Make sure calibration of thermostats and other system controls are accurately set.
• Performs checks on motors and belts.
• Change filters and replace worn out parts.
• Repairs motors and services to hot water boilers.
• Maintains consistent chemical compositions in equipment.
• Assists in ordering supplies or equipment needed for HVAC maintenance or installation as needed.
• Ensures availability of all necessary items for HVAC related projects.
• Responds to emergency situations on a timely basis.
• Assists with inventory and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Assists in determining condition & lifecycle of HVAC systems.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
