Job summary

MasTec Communications Group seeks an HVAC/Telecom Technician to perform field service maintenance, remedial and emergency repairs on telecom and data centers, focusing on HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities include maintaining cooling systems on cell tower units, installing equipment, reading schematics, traveling to sites, and complying with FCC/OSHA regulations. Training provided; hotel, per diem, and transportation are included.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand electrical ladder schematics.
• Experience with underground CEV (Preferred).
• EPA 608 refrigerant certification (Type 1, 2, and 3).

Responsibilities

• Maintaining commercial cooling systems on cell tower cooling units (diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing and replacing components).
• Performing maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
• Demonstrate competency with installation and diagnostics to complete services professionally.
• Replace or install forced air heating and cooling systems.
• Replace or install hydronic heating systems or refrigeration equipment.
• Install or replace duct systems in telecommunication shelters.
• Test electrical circuits for continuity with proper equipment.
• Test pipe/tubing joints for leaks using appropriate methods.
• Layout and connect wiring between controls and equipment per diagrams.
• Troubleshoot low-voltage control systems.
• Understand underground gas monitoring systems (Sierra 2400/2450, Quest).
• Complete safety and technical training; maintain safe work practices.
