Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking an HVAC/Telecom Technician to perform field service maintenance, remedial, and emergency repairs on telecommunication and data center HVAC equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and install components across cooling systems at cell sites and shelters, often under on-call conditions.

The role requires reading electrical ladder schematics, basic plumbing knowledge, and extensive travel; a company vehicle is provided.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with underground CEV (Controlled Environment Vault) preferable.
• Able to read electrical ladder schematics.
• Basic plumbing knowledge of sump pumps.
• Knowledge of pumps, dry coolers, and cooling towers.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of HVAC codes and their proper application.
• Must communicate effectively verbally and by email.
• Ability to be on call and travel extensively for work when needed is highly preferred.
• Extensive daily travel with an independent work structure.
• EPA 608 refrigerant certification (types 1,2,3)
• PC skills with MS Office and Internet.
• Understanding of telecommunications and data processing operations.
• Compliance with FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations.
• Ability to read general job-related documents.
• Construction or related experience preferred.
• Willing to travel Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Maintain commercial cooling systems on cell tower units and related equipment.
• Perform maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
• Replace or install forced air heating/cooling systems and hydronic heating systems.
• Install or replace duct systems in telecommunication shelters.
• Test electrical circuits, leaks, and wiring according to diagrams.
• Troubleshoot low-voltage control systems.
• Ensure safety and technical training completion.
