Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking an HVAC/Telecom Technician to perform field service maintenance, remedial and emergency repair on telecom and data center HVAC equipment.

The role covers servicing cooling systems, duct and piping work, electrical tests, and on-site installation across commercial sites with opportunities for on-call travel and overtime. Training provided and benefits included.

Qualifications

• Prior underground CEV experience is preferred.
• Able to read electrical ladder schematics.
• Basic plumbing knowledge of sump pumps.
• Knowledge of pumps, dry coolers, and cooling towers.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of HVAC codes and their proper application.
• Effective communication by verbal and email.
• Willingness to be on call and travel extensively.
• Extensive daily travel with independent work.
• EPA 608 refrigerant certification (Type 1, 2, 3) and universal refrigerant card.
• PC skills with emphasis on Microsoft and internet products.
• Understanding of telecommunications and data processing operations.
• Compliance with FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain commercial cooling systems on cell tower cooling units (diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing and replacing components).
• Perform maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
• Demonstrate competency with installation and diagnostics to complete services professionally.
• Replace or install forced air heating and air conditioning systems.
• Replace or install hydronic heating systems or refrigeration equipment.
• Install or replace duct systems in telecommunications shelters.
• Test electrical circuits and components for continuity.
• Test pipe/tubing joints for leaks.
• Layout and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment.
• Troubleshoot low-voltage control systems.
• Understand underground gas monitoring systems.
• Complete safety and technical training.
• Maintain safe work practices.
