Job summary

Jobot is hiring an HVAC Sheet Metal Estimator in Roanoke, VA to act as the technical architect for bids from blueprints to installation. You will perform quantity takeoffs, prepare labor/material estimates, and develop BOMs while coordinating with fabrication shop, project managers, and vendors to ensure precise, competitive bids.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in sheet metal, HVAC, mechanical construction, or estimating.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a high level of comfort learning specialized estimating software.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple bidding deadlines simultaneously.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and commercial HVAC installation methods is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify potential scope gaps, discrepancies, and constructability concerns to mitigate project cost risks.

Job Details

As a Sheet Metal Estimator, you are the technical architect of our project success. You won’t just be crunching numbers; you will be visualizing the entire lifecycle of a build from the first set of blueprints to the final installation. In this role, you will bridge the gap between design and reality, working closely with our fabrication shop, project managers, and external vendors to ensure every bid is as precise as our ductwork. You will spend your days interpreting complex specifications, identifying potential hurdles before they reach the field, and building the financial foundation for some of the region’s most significant commercial and industrial developments. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys the puzzle of a large-scale takeoff and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
