Job summary

Jobot is hiring an HVAC Sheet Metal Estimator in Roanoke, VA to act as the technical architect for bids from blueprints to installation. You will perform quantity takeoffs, prepare labor/material estimates, and develop BOMs while coordinating with fabrication shop, project managers, and vendors to ensure precise, competitive bids.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 3+ years in sheet metal/HVAC estimating, strong blueprint reading skills, Excel proficiency, and experience with

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in sheet metal, HVAC, mechanical construction, or estimating.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a high level of comfort learning specialized estimating software.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple bidding deadlines simultaneously.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and commercial HVAC installation methods is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define project scope and requirements.
• Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs for sheet metal ductwork, fittings, equipment, and related components.
• Prepare detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work to support competitive bid proposals.
• Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) while obtaining and evaluating pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
• Identify potential scope gaps, discrepancies, and constructability concerns to mitigate project cost risks.
• Coordinate with project management and operations teams to clarify requirements and ensure successful project handoffs.
