Job summary

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking apprentices to join our growing team and learn HVAC on client sites. You will train on HVAC equipment, participate in Service Technical Academy, and gain mentorship to troubleshoot both technical issues and customer needs.

You will contribute to keeping customers updated on progress, meet union training requirements, and have opportunities for advancement and recognition through the Union program.

Qualifications

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada (UA).
• 1+ years of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical HVAC systems.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls ethically and professionally.
• Leadership to support mechanics on non-complex, non-critical HVAC equipment on a job site.
• Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
• Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs.
• You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• You will meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
