Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Apprentice to gain hands-on experience with building automation and HVAC systems at client sites in Dallas, TX. The program includes certified training through the Service Technical Academy to build skills and open paths to recognition and advancement.

As a Bargaining Unit Position, you will learn to troubleshoot, upsell, and recommend efficient facility solutions while meeting union training requirements and maintaining a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site
• Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
• Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs.
• You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• You will meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
