Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in Metairie, LA seeks Apprentices to learn HVAC mechanics and controls on customer sites. You will join a union-backed apprenticeship program, gaining hands-on field experience and certified training through the Service Technical Academy.

Under mentorship, you will develop troubleshooting skills, meet union training requirements in year one, and contribute to improving facility efficiency while learning to provide practical quotes.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems and facilities support.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices train and work on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Participate in Service Technical Academy (STA) training for skill development and advancement.
• Develop skills to troubleshoot technical issues and understand customer needs.
• Keep Johnson Controls, contractors, and customers informed of progress and issues.
• Meet attendance requirements for required Union training during the first year.
• Provide recommendations to improve facility efficiency and upsell opportunities.
• Prepare/offer quotes to support recommendations.
