Job summary

TDIndustries is seeking a Service Technician II - HVAC to perform inspections, diagnostics, testing, repairs, and planned maintenance on commercial HVAC systems. This role requires hands-on work across split systems, RTUs, chillers, and airside equipment, while upholding safety standards and company protocols.

You will service a range of equipment, maintain stock in the vehicle, and develop strong customer relationships by explaining work performed and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on HVAC service experience.
  • Must possess required registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position.
  • High school diploma or GED is required; an additional two-year technical degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and optimize performance of various HVAC systems using tools and gauges.
  • Disassemble/reassemble equipment for troubleshooting and planned maintenance.
  • Fulfill service contracts, quoted projects, and service calls while ensuring profitability.
  • Develop long-term customer relationships and explain work performed to satisfaction.
  • Participate in on-call standby rotation per policy.
  • Safely operate a company vehicle in compliance with policy.

Job Summary

The Service Technician II - HVAC is responsible for performing inspections, diagnostics, testing, repairs, and planned maintenance of commercial HVAC systems. This intermediate-level technician ensures systems operate efficiently and reliably by following company standards and safety protocols.


Essential Duties


  • Diagnose and optimize performance of various HVAC systems including split systems, mini split systems, RTUs, WSHPs, CRAC units, chillers, and airside equipment. Utilize hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment proficiently.

  • Performs disassembly and reassembly of large or small commercial or residential HVAC equipment to perform troubleshooting and planned maintenance as indicated in the service agreement.

  • Successfully fulfills service contracts, quoted projects, and service calls, ensuring profitability is maintained.

  • Develops long-term relationships with customers and explains work performed to the customer's satisfaction.

  • Participates in technician on-call standby rotation as dictated by business unit policies and procedures.

  • Safely drives a motor vehicle and trailer, as evidenced by past driving performance record.

  • Meets requirements of company vehicle driving policy, and adheres to all company safety requirements.

  • Purchases materials and issues purchase order numbers to suppliers.

  • Maintains equipment, tools, and inventory stock on service vehicle.


Minimum Requirements


  • Minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on experience as an HVAC Service Technician.

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • Two-year technical degree in related field is preferred.

  • Must possess required registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position.

  • HVAC Unitary skills:

    • Split systems - all brands up to 25 tons

    • Mini-split system - up to 3 ton heat pump and all brands MultiZone

    • Roof top units - all brands up to 50 tons

    • Water source heat pumps - all brands up to 15 tons

    • Self-contained systems - water-cooled and air cooled with remote condenser and CRAC units - Leibert/Data-aire/Stultz



  • HVAC Chillers skills:

    • Air-cooled chillers - Scroll/reciprocating.



  • HVAC Airside skills:

    • Fan Powered Box

    • VAV Box

    • VFD Theory



  • Air Handler:

    • Theory of AHU operation and Theory of control valve operation



  • Exhaust fans:

    • Centrifugal Up blast Roof Fans and Centrifugal Inline Fan.
