Job summary

TDIndustries is seeking a Service Technician II for HVAC systems to inspect, diagnose, test, and repair commercial equipment. You will perform maintenance in accordance with safety standards and service agreements, ensuring reliable operation.

You will work on split systems, rooftops, water-source heat pumps, and airside equipment, contributing to profitability and customer satisfaction while supporting on-call rotations and on-site visits.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of hands-on HVAC service technician experience required
• High School Diploma or GED required; two-year technical degree preferred
• Required registrations, licenses or certifications as per position

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and optimize performance of HVAC systems (split, mini-split, RTU, WSHP, CRAC, chillers, airside equipment).
• Disassembly/reassembly for diagnostics and maintenance.
• Fulfill service contracts, quotes and service calls while ensuring profitability.
• Build long-term customer relationships and explain work performed.
• Participate in on-call standby rotation as per policy.
• Safely operate vehicles per policy and safety requirements.
• Procure materials and issue purchase orders to suppliers.
• Maintain tools and inventory on service vehicle.

Job description

Job Summary

The Service Technician II - HVAC is responsible for performing inspections, diagnostics, testing, repairs, and planned maintenance of commercial HVAC systems. This intermediate-level technician ensures systems operate efficiently and reliably by following company standards and safety protocols.

Essential Duties

• Diagnose and optimize performance of various HVAC systems including split systems, mini split systems, RTUs, WSHPs, CRAC units, chillers, and airside equipment. Utilize hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment proficiently.
• Performs disassembly and reassembly of large or small commercial or residential HVAC equipment to perform troubleshooting and planned maintenance as indicated in the service agreement.
• Successfully fulfills service contracts, quoted projects, and service calls, ensuring profitability is maintained.
• Develops long-term relationships with customers and explains work performed to the customer's satisfaction.
• Participates in technician on-call standby rotation as dictated by business unit policies and procedures.
• Safely drives a motor vehicle and trailer, as evidenced by past driving performance record.
• Meets requirements of company vehicle driving policy, and adheres to all company safety requirements.
• Purchases materials and issues purchase order numbers to suppliers.
• Maintains equipment, tools, and inventory stock on service vehicle.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on experience as an HVAC Service Technician.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Two-year technical degree in related field is preferred.
• Must possess required registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position.

• HVAC Unitary skills:
  • Split systems - all brands up to 25 tons
  • Mini-split system - up to 3 ton heat pump and all brands MultiZone
  • Roof top units - all brands up to 50 tons
  • Water source heat pumps - all brands up to 15 tons
  • Self-contained systems - water-cooled and air cooled with remote condenser and CRAC units - Leibert/Data-aire/Stultz
• HVAC Chillers skills:
  • Air-cooled chillers - Scroll/reciprocating.
• HVAC Airside skills:
  • Fan Powered Box
  • VAV Box
  • VFD Theory
• Air Handler:
  • Theory of AHU operation and Theory of control valve operation
• Exhaust fans:
  • Centrifugal Up blast Roof Fans and Centrifugal Inline Fan.
