Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA is seeking an HVAC/R Technician - Apprentice to learn and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on store HVAC systems, ice machines, and refrigeration equipment under the guidance of an experienced technician.

The role involves completing work orders, maintaining service records in the maintenance tracking system, and participating in an after-hours on-call rotation with a mentor. EPA certification and state licensure are targeted during the program.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, electrical systems, and plumbing.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• EPA Universal Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to obtain state licensure within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Assist an experienced technician or supervisor in completing assigned work orders and scheduled repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC/R and related equipment.
• Complete and maintain preventive maintenance checklists and documentation.
• Provide timely work status updates to maintenance leadership and customers.
• Ability to stay calm and provide excellent customer service.
• Conduct general maintenance on refrigeration systems, air conditioning, heating, and electrical components.
• Track refrigerant usage per EPA requirements after certification.
• Update control points for refrigeration systems as directed.
• Assist with diagnosing and repairing refrigerant leaks and HVAC components.
• Complete minor repairs on case doors, gaskets, latches, and drains.
• Respond to service requests and participate in after-hours calls.
