Job summary

Stantec in Charlottesville seeks a Mechanical Engineer with an HVAC/plumbing focus to contribute from concept through construction documents. You will design, size, and specify systems, coordinate with architects and engineers, and prepare design drawings and calculations for diverse building projects.

The role requires collaboration with the design team, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required; PE license preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in buildings design; HVAC/plumbing focus.
• LEED credential preferred; strong communication and team skills.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and energy modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Apply mechanical engineering skills to design and oversee building projects.
• Produce design documentation, drawings, and calculations.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams and clients.
• Develop client presentations and ensure technical objectives are met.
• Perform water, sanitary, storm, gas calculations and equipment specs.
• Prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Support in field surveys and construction administration.
