Job summary

Johnstone Supply is hiring a Counter Sales Associate I in the Charlotte area. You will help customers with HVAC/R product needs, provide technical information, and process orders with accuracy while supporting a friendly store environment.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, product knowledge, and ability to work with the team to meet sales targets and SOPs. A high school diploma and front-line experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 1+ years of related experience in wholesale/retail
• Experience must include front line customer service.
• Preferred: 1+ years of wholesale/retail experience in HVAC/R or related industry
• Forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers who walk in the store and regulars by name, handling multiple requests professionally.
• Assists customers in selecting products by asking questions and listening to needs.
• Recommends and orders products; identifies substitutes and promotions to meet customer needs.
• Resolves product issues; researches stock across branches to fulfill orders.
• Processes quotes, warranties, returns, and other transactions accurately; keeps records.
• Maintains store cleanliness, displays, shelves, and overall showroom appearance.
• Maintains knowledge of HVAC/R products, vendors, and usage contexts.
• Communicates sales leads to outside staff and management.
• Supports warehouse duties including receiving and shipping.
