Job summary

Johnson Controls in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking a seasoned project leader to run the day-to-day activities of a field mechanical install team, delivering safe, profitable, and customer-focused retrofit projects.

You will plan, execute, and control projects, coordinating mechanics and subcontractors, estimating work, reviewing proposals, and supporting sales with pre-bid efforts while ensuring compliance with safety and contract requirements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of technical and operational knowledge of service retrofit, remodel and tenant improvement projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience; proficient in project management software and financial accounting systems.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Writer, Visio; comfortable Windows environment.
• Travel required and will vary by project; projects may exist outside geography.
• Two to four years of engineering or trade school training preferred.
• HVAC mechanical systems installation and service experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day activities of mechanical retrofit projects.
• Coordinate mechanical retrofit process with standard practices and correct job installation details.
• Estimate mechanical work and present proposals to customers.
• Assist sales in project development and pre-bid reviews.
• Manage staffing levels and subcontractors; ensure safety and cost controls.
• Use standard tracking tools to report project status and financials to management.
• Develop relationships with customers and subcontractors; ensure smooth project handoffs.
