Job summary

Southland Industries in California offers an Internship and New College Graduate program designed to provide hands-on experience in Design Engineering for the HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection industry. You will assist the design team and senior engineers to deliver basic calculations, drawings, and specifications under supervision.

Pay is $26.00 per hour for California internships, with opportunities for full-time roles and a comprehensive benefits package after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with Southland needs (Mechanical Engineering).
• Completion of Thermodynamics and HVAC Design courses is desirable.
• Strong work ethic and initiative are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers in design tasks.
• Perform basic deliverables: calculations, drawings, specs for heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning systems.
• Compute loads, equipment sizing, pipe/duct sizing, friction loss.
• Coordinate project design with management, architects, and trades.
• Assist with CADD drafting and cross‑checking work.
• Review codes and field conditions to support design.
