What you will do
- Perform new installation and service for system commissioning of HVAC systems including air handlers, boilers, chilled water systems, variable air volume boxes, fan coils and exhaust fans.
- Use Johnson Controls configuration and Metasys building automation tools to commission, troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
- Respond to basic warranty calls.
- Provide customers with the highest level of technical field support to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor, delivering solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
- Program and install new HVAC systems; help organize and execute projects to completion by communicating with project managers and performing high‑quality point‑to‑point checkout of systems.
- Load system‑level controller software.
- Perform basic commissioning, system diagnostics and sequence testing from system‑level controllers to end devices (sensors, relays, actuators, valves, etc.).
- Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
- Conduct building management system commissioning and diagnostics, adding and removing commissioned equipment points, trending and alarming those points for customers.
- Provide notifications via email or text in case of emergency and trend points for historical data to diagnose and maintain HVAC systems.
- Keep management, JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
- Document changes and provide information for as‑built documentation.
- Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
- Complete administrative tasks including time sheets, expense reports and on‑site documentation.
- Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
What we look for
- Entry‑level schooling (in school or graduated) or up to 2years of experience in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or a similar field, or at least 1‑2years of industry experience/service experience of electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, electrical, facilities management systems, site preparation and coordination, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
- Ability to explain technical information to technical and non‑technical people.
- Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical building automation equipment on a job site.
- PC experience required; ability to learn and program HVAC‑related software and understanding of general information technology.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly range: $24‑32 (hourly rate determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities). This position includes a competitive benefits package.
