Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks an experienced Controls Project Manager for our HVAC division to lead on-site construction management of controls projects from pre-construction planning through commissioning and closeout.

You will coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, field resources, and customers to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements. This role drives planning, scheduling, cost control, risk mitigation, quality assurance, and

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Construction Management or related field with 4+ years managing HVAC/construction projects.
• Bachelor's degree preferred with PM and field ops leadership experience.
• Hands-on experience in design, startup, commissioning of BAS.
• Strong HVAC controls knowledge and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Experience in project planning, scheduling, subcontractor management, and field execution oversight.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, control schematics, and schedules.
• Knowledge of project accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and earned value.
• Commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC controls projects from design through closeout.
• Coordinate day-to-day execution with subcontractors and technicians.
• Manage project financials: costs, billings, cash flow, and gross margin.
• Maintain regular communication with customers and develop long-term relationships.
• Review scope and schedule changes; pursue change orders as needed.
• Coordinate procurement activities for materials and pricing.
• Oversee loading, verification, and commissioning of controllers and equipment.
• Prepare as-built records, commissioning docs, and manuals.
• Provide site-specific training for owners and operators.
• Attend progress meetings and forecast revenue, costs, and margins.
• Ensure safety standards and compliance throughout the project.
