Job summary

Johnson Controls in Lenexa, Kansas is seeking an HVAC Building Controls Application Engineer to design, configure, and Commission complete building control systems with a focus on HVAC controls. You will develop software, create submittals, and coordinate with customers, consultants, field teams, and subcontractors.

The role requires knowledge of HVAC systems and building automation, plus the ability to travel to job sites.

Qualifications

Associate degree in a related technical field with two years of relevant work experience or equivalent
Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC industry and building automation systems from design, install or commissioning perspective
Ability to travel to job sites outside of the area and relate technical knowledge to non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

Designs and configures complete building control systems per contract documents
Creates flow diagrams, sequences of operations, BOMs, network layouts and schematics
Develops and tests software programs to operate the system
Coordinates drawings, equipment schedules, submittals and installation
Orders and tracks materials; coordinates factory-mounting processes
Assists in loading, commissioning, and validation of system functionality
Provides field change information for as-built drawings and software
Tracks project progress and communicates status to stakeholders
Supports safety standards and project execution
May provide guidance to junior team members
