Job summary

Trane Technologies in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring an Application Engineer II (Equipment) to lead equipment selection, pricing, and submittals for various projects. You will influence budgeting and project scope, ensuring cost savings and accurate configurations.

The role requires HVAC project management or estimating experience, with a degree in engineering or related field. Onsite work with some flexibility for extended hours and travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum two years HVAC project management or estimating experience.
• Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged; practical experience prioritized.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record and no major violations in 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Optimize/validate equipment selection, size, configuration, voltage, and options.
• Evaluate potential cost savings and cost issues across projects.
• Validate project scope by reviewing plans, specs, and estimates; plan EQ/VPP dollars and quantities.
• Support sales with preliminary and final submittals; participate in cost reviews.
• Negotiate prices with vendors to optimize expenses.
• Prepare equipment for order entry; verify pricing and reconcile job costs.
• Provide post-order technical support for installation, startup, and warranty.
