Job summary

Arup is seeking a Protection & Control Designer to help deliver HV and EHV substations for utilities, renewables, and data centers. You will create P&C packages, diagrams, SCADA interfaces, and cabling layouts from concept through design completion while interfacing with clients and internal teams.

This role may be based in multiple offices (New York, NJ, DC, Boston, Chicago). Strong design software skills (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in technology or related discipline with 4+ years of experience.
• 4+ years of 15kV through 345kV utility substation design experience per IEEE/ANSI.
• Advanced understanding of AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to learn new design software and work with MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Design HV and EHV substations for power utilities and renewables/data centers.
• Prepare substation P&C design packages: single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring, SCADA, layout, BOM.
• Support studies and calculations: AC auxiliary sizing, battery sizing, voltage drop.
• Provide construction support and cross-disciplinary coordination.
