Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Protection & Controls Designer to join our team remotely or hybrid from the nearest office. The role leads multi-discipline substation design efforts, translating sketches into detailed drawings and coordinating project activities to meet schedules and budgets.

Strong experience in substation design and P&C packages is required. You will work with AutoCAD and ProjectWise, supporting QA/QC and documentation, with extensive client interaction and independent work in a

Qualifications

• Drafting diploma from a recognized technical institute or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 15 years of professional experience focused on substation design for Senior positions; 10 years for Intermediate positions.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; MicroStation would be an asset.
• Experience with ProjectWise document management software.
• Prior utility or utility consulting experience is a plus.
• Strong client focus and excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support development of P&C design packages for substations.
• Coordinate design activities to meet schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
• Translate sketches and markups into documented drawings (schematics, wiring, SLDs).
• Maintain project documentation and As-Built packages.
• Support site visits, proposals, and project meetings as required.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams and ensure compliance with standards.
