Job summary

Position Summary

We are seeking a Protection & Control Designer with technical experience in the design of HV substations for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers. In this role you will support the delivery of substation detailed design projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for electric utilities, contractors, and developers. You will be the technical interface with clients and internal team members.

This position can be worked out of our New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Boston or Chicago offices.

Responsibilities
  • Performthe engineering design, technical strategy, and delivery of HVand EHVsubstationprojectsfor power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers.
  • PreparesubstationP&Cdesign packagesincludingsingle‐line diagrams,protection and control schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications,control houselayout,cableschedules,relay panel front and rear layout,cable traylayoutandbills of materialsto quality,timeand budget requirements.
  • Support insubstation studies and calculationsincludingAC auxiliary system sizing, battery sizingandvoltage drop.
  • Provide construction support and inter‑disciplinary coordination.
Qualifications
  • Associate degreein technology or related discipline and4years related experience.
  • Proven4+years experiencein15kV through 345kVP&Cutilitysubstationdesignand IEEE/ANSI standards.
  • Advanced understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD and MicroStation
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as needed, to achieve agreed goals and results.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to interact with clients, regulatory bodies, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Ability torepresentthe company credibly.
  • Ability to learn and effectivelyutilizenew designsoftware programs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools – MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook
  • The ability to prioritize work effectively, manage deadlines and organization skillsrequiredfor our rapidly changing environment.
Hiring Range

The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York is $107,100 to $127,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York will differ.
