Job summary

Power Engineering Services, a Quanta Services Company, is seeking a Protection & Control Designer to join our team in Austin, TX. You will support high-voltage substation projects for utilities, contractors, and developers from concept through detailed engineering and construction support.

You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, ensure designs meet standards, and deliver high-quality solutions while managing project milestones and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field.
• 6+ years of protection and control design for utility substations.
• Experience designing substations from 15kV through 345kV.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; MicroStation a plus; MS Office suite.
• Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI standards and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection and control design packages for HV substations (diagrams, schematics, BOMs).
• Design auxiliary systems such as station batteries and chargers.
• Coordinate with engineers and disciplines to ensure accurate project execution.
• Provide technical support during construction and respond to field questions.
• Deliver quality work within project schedules and client expectations.
