Job summary

Power Engineering Services, a Quanta Services company, is seeking a Protection & Control Designer to join our growing team in Converse, TX. You will support the design and delivery of high-voltage substation projects for utilities and developers, from conceptual design through detailed engineering and construction support.

You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, develop protection and control packages, and ensure quality work while meeting schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of protection and control design experience for utility substations.
• Experience designing substations from 15kV through 345kV.
• Working knowledge of IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; MicroStation is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and design software.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection and control design packages for high-voltage substations (SLDs, schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs).
• Design auxiliary systems, including station batteries and chargers.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, and other disciplines for accurate project execution.
• Provide technical support during construction and respond to field questions.
• Deliver quality work while meeting project schedules and budgets.
