Job summary

Power Engineering Services, a Quanta Services Company, seeks an Electrical Designer with a strong background in high-voltage substation design for electric utilities. You will work with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver substation projects from concept through detailed design for utilities, contractors, and developers.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field is required.
• 4+ years of experience designing 15kV–345kV utility substations.
• Working knowledge of IEEE/ANSI standards for substation design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; MicroStation a plus.
• Strong substation physical design and drafting practices.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with teams.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; manage priorities.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite; eager to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Develop 2D and 3D substation design packages for HV substations.
• Create single-line diagrams, layouts, conduit and cable plans.
• Develop grounding, lightning, and yard lighting plans; BOMs.
• Collaborate with engineers and other design disciplines for coordinated packages.
• Apply client specs, codes, and design standards to drawings.
• Maintain project files, revisions, and design documentation.
