Job summary

SunEnergy1 in the United States is seeking a High Voltage and Substation Engineer to design, develop, and oversee HV systems and substation projects, with a focus on renewable energy integration.

The role covers substation design, HV system analysis, and coordination with utilities to enable reliable grid interconnection. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E, SKM and a PE license is preferred, with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3–7 years of HV engineering or substation design experience.
• Experience with grid interconnection for solar or storage projects.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E, SKM.
• Strong knowledge of HV equipment, protection relays, and protection coordination.
• Familiar with IEEE, NEC, and NESC standards.
• PE license or eligibility highly preferred.
• Willingness to travel to project sites; valid driver’s license.
• Renewable energy integration experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Substation design: layouts, equipment specs, and single-line diagrams.
• Design and analyze HV transmission systems (69kV+).
• Coordinate interconnection solutions with utilities and grid operators.
• Select HV equipment including transformers, breakers, switchgear, relays.
• Perform power system studies: load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, testing.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NESC, and utility standards.
• Collaborate with project managers and civil engineers to align designs.
• Support maintenance and troubleshooting of HV systems.
• Prepare technical reports and as-built documentation.
