Job summary

Shermco Industries in Gonzales, LA seeks a Field Service Test Technician to travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and collect data on HV electrical systems from 480V to 600 kV. You will handle power transformer tests, relay calibration, and switchgear testing, with on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications include an EPC or EE degree, NETA certification (or equivalent), 2+ years of relevant experience, and strong safety practices.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from a 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) or an EE Degree from an ABET-accredited college.
• NETA Certification (I, II, III or IV) or similar desired.
• 2+ years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
• Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Excel; PowerDB a plus.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and data collection of HV systems.
• Test power transformers, relays, switchgear and related equipment.
• Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
• Maintain safety procedures and adhere to electrical safety standards.
