Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is hiring a Field Service Technician - Electrical Testing to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair on distribution systems. You will travel to customer sites to inspect and data-collect tests for low, medium, and high voltage equipment (480 V to 600 kV).

This role emphasizes safety and quality, with on-call rotation. Requirements include a technical degree (EPC or EE), NETA certification preferred, 2+ years of switchgear testing experience, and strong PC

Qualifications

Must be able to travel locally and overnight periodically.
Associate’s degree in EPC or EE from ABET college (or equivalent military training).
NETA Certification or similar desired.
At least 2 years of experience with switchgear testing and troubleshooting.
Proficient PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Excel; PowerDB a plus.
Must follow electrical safety procedures and work safely.
OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred.

Responsibilities

Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start-up and collect data for low, medium and high voltage systems.
Perform instrument transformer tests.
Conduct power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance).
Test electro-mechanical and solid state relays.
Test cables (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.
Test low/medium/high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
Calibrate relays and perform power metering as needed.
Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to emergencies timely.
