Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Power Delivery Project Management Area Lead to oversee day-to-day PM activities for high voltage and EHV projects across the United States. The role emphasizes leadership, adherence to PM practices, and delivering quality on time and within budget.

Travel to client and office sites is required; you will mentor staff, manage risks, and coordinate with area and technical managers to align with business goals and client expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Construction Management or related field within Power & Energy Market, or equivalent experience
  • 15 years of relevant post-education experience in a project management role within Power Delivery/Utility Industry
  • Minimum of 5 years applicable industry experience with IOUs/IPPs/Co-ops/Munis, etc.
  • Minimum of 5 years leading engineering/construction teams for high voltage and/or EHV projects
  • Knowledge of PM processes/tools: Contract Management, Meetings, Earned Value, Change, Risk, Schedule (Primavera P6), Financial Management
  • Advanced proficiency in PM delivery in Power Delivery/Utility industry and strong PM background
  • Strong analytical, organizational skills and business acumen to bridge business and PM
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with leadership, subcontractors, staff
  • Self-leadership, attention to detail, multi-tasking, adaptability
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from diverse sources and maintain safety standards

Responsibilities

  • Provide PM leadership for high voltage and EHV projects, ensuring design, budgets, forecasts, margins and KPIs are delivered
  • Develop and execute recruiting plans; monitor retention and staff reviews
  • Oversee performance reviews and salary adjustments for direct reports
  • Mentor PMs and manage internal transfers and external hires
  • Engage stakeholders at all levels and report project progress
  • Guide pursuit/initiatives including Go/No-Go decisions, contract reviews and risk mitigation
  • Lead or participate in contract negotiations and client presentations
  • Drive technical reviews and QA/QC adherence
  • Provide inputs to multi-disciplinary teams and strategic client advice
  • Lead staff development and performance guidance
  • Maintain documentation for risk, PMP, QP, PSP and comms plans
  • Lead project kick-off meetings and coordinate resource/subcontracting
  • Maintain client communications and monthly status reporting
  • Assist with problem project reviews and recovery plans
  • Ensure timely project reporting and updates to clients and management
  • Document lessons learned and provide trusted-advisor solutions
  • Uphold ethics in funds/resources and adhere to code of conduct
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed
