Job summary

General Motors (GM) is seeking a Software Engineer to join the VMEC team in Milford, MI, focusing on high‑voltage battery management software for EVs. You will design, implement, and validate embedded solutions across CAN/LIN/Ethernet and diagnostic strategies.

The role requires hands-on embedded software experience, strong C/C++, and familiarity with MISRA guidelines, with collaboration across multiple engineering groups in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or related technical field with strong discipline.
• 2+ years in embedded software development with measurable deliverables.
• Experience in system design, diagnostics, and control concepts.
• Proficiency in C, C++ and Python; strong debugging skills.
• Understanding of MISRA guidelines and automotive testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver embedded software for VMEC BMS.
• Ensure timely, quality software in support of wired battery management systems.
• Translate requirements into robust software structures with diagnostics.
• Implement vehicle communications (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and controller interfaces.
• Develop test plans and verify functionality via HIL/vehicle testing.
