JOB DESCRIPTION
CV Resources, in partnership with our client, seeks an experienced HR Specialist to support the HR function at a mid-sized national law firm with offices across the country. Reporting to the HR Director, this role will be responsible for administering employee benefits, managing leaves of absence, and supporting recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding processes. The HR Specialist will play a key role in HR compliance, employee records management, and collaboration with cross-functional partners to support a fast-paced, entrepreneurial HR department.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HR SPECIALIST
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Administer employee benefits and liaise with third-party providers on enrollments, changes, and issue resolution.
- Manage leaves of absence and accommodation, including STD, LTD, and FMLA, ensuring accurate documentation.
Recruiting & Employee Lifecycle
- Coordinate and deliver new hire orientation, onboarding, and staff integration.
- Assist with staff recruiting efforts, including requisitions, screening coordination, and scheduling.
- Manage offboarding processes for voluntary and involuntary terminations, including documentation and systems access.
HR Compliance & Administration
- Interpret and implement HR policies and procedures for attorneys and staff.
- Respond to HR inquiries with timely, accurate information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Process HR documentation, including personnel action forms, payroll forms, and unemployment claims.
- Maintain complete and accurate digital and paper employee records.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and recommend policy updates.
- Assist with the annual evaluation process and contribute to HR team projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with Staff Recruiting, Legal Recruiting, Compensation & Benefits, Payroll, HRIS, and Finance.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE HR SPECIALIST
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of HR experience within law firms, supporting multiple offices.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
- Experience supporting HR functions across multiple offices in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
