Qualifications

Job description

Summary

A leading national law firm with over 400 lawyers and 300 business services professionals serving clients from offices across the United States seeks a Human Resources Generalist. Under the guidance of the Senior Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will provide broad-based HR support across the firm, with responsibilities spanning compliance, policy administration, benefits, employee support, HR systems, BSG recruiting, onboarding, and process improvement. This role will serve as a resource to employees and managers on routine HR matters, support the administration of key HR programs and processes, and partner with members of the HR team and other internal stakeholders to ensure HR matters are handled accurately, consistently, and in alignment with firm policies and applicable requirements.

Responsibilities
HR Compliance, Policy, and Process Support
  • Support the administration of HR compliance processes, including monitoring employment law developments, maintaining compliance trackers, coordinating required notices and forms, and assisting with implementation of approved policy or process changes.
  • Monitor and support completion of required firmwide training initiatives, including harassment and discrimination training.
  • Assist with updates to the firm’s Policy Guidebook, HR forms, templates, standard operating procedures, and employee communications to ensure materials remain current, accurate, and consistent.
  • Maintain the HR record retention policy and related guidelines to ensure it remains current, accurate, and aligned with applicable retention requirements and internal practices.
  • Oversee and support Form I-9 compliance, including weekly monitoring and timely completion, record maintenance, employee and vendor follow-up, serving as the primary operational contact for employees and HireRight, and partnering with HR leadership to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Maintain and manage HR documentation and records related to onboarding and separations, ensuring all required new hire and termination documents are accurately maintained in the HRIS and documented in HR procedures to support consistency, compliance, and process adherence.
  • Maintain federal and state labor law postings for all offices and remote employees, ensuring compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Serve as backup to the HR Coordinator by entering, updating, and auditing employee data in the HRIS and ServiceNow, including salary adjustments, compensation changes, and other personnel information, while ensuring data accuracy and record integrity.
  • Serve as backup to the HR Coordinator for the administration of unemployment claims, ensuring timely responses and compliance with state-specific laws and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to ongoing HR process improvements, audits, reporting, and other initiatives designed to enhance efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
Benefits, Leave, and Employee Support
  • Provide support for benefits administration, including employee inquiries, open enrollment, vendor coordination, reporting, audits, communications, and issue resolution.
  • Assist with leave administration and jurisdiction‑specific leave compliance by supporting notices, forms, file maintenance, audits, and related documentation.
  • Serve as an additional backup resource for leave‑related processes, including FMLA, disability, paid family leave, workers’ compensation, and related case coordination, as needed.
  • Support wellness, retirement, and other benefits‑related programs and projects.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for routine HR inquiries from employees and managers, providing guidance on general HR policies, benefits, and employee support matters. Escalate complex or sensitive issues as appropriate, while maintaining accurate documentation of employee relations matters, including EthicsPoint reports and related case records when necessary.
Recruiting, Onboarding, HR Operations, and Special Projects
  • Partner with HR Operations, Benefits, Recruiting, Payroll, Finance, Legal, Professional Development, and other stakeholders to ensure HR processes are coordinated, accurate, and consistently administered.
  • Support HR systems and data‑related processes, including updates in HRIS and other HR platforms, as needed.
  • Provide backup support for BSG recruiting and onboarding activities, including interview scheduling, orientation coordination, resume screening, candidate sourcing support, and related administrative needs.
  • Assist with special projects, process improvements, reporting, audits, and other HR initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of Human Resources experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law compliance, HR policies and procedures, benefits administration, leave administration, employee relations, recruiting operations, HRIS processes, and federal and state employment laws.
  • Experience with Dayforce, AbsenceSoft, applicant tracking systems, or comparable HR technology platforms preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and follow‑through.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and self‑motivated, with the ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and drive results.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding client service and support while contributing to firmwide goals and priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of AI tools and responsible use; leverages or is willing to learn technologies such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT to improve productivity and streamline processes.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, with the flexibility to work additional hours as needed.

Compensation: $90,000.00-$105,000.00, plus bonus
