The Role: HR Manager (Volunteer, Part-Time)

We’re looking for a mission-aligned HR Manager to help design and operationalize our core people systems - from onboarding to performance frameworks to clear role design. This is a process-focused role, ideal for someone who thrives on structure, enjoys building from scratch, and wants to contribute to youth equity through the backbone of a well-run organization.

Key Responsibilities

You will work closely with the COO to create clarity across the organization by:

• Developing and implementing key people systems and tools, such as onboarding flows, job descriptions, and performance management templates.
• Supporting hiring processes by drafting job postings, refining candidate workflows, and co-leading candidate review and selection.
• Recommending HR tools or process improvements aligned with a distributed, part-time nonprofit team.
• Ensuring operational compliance with volunteer and intern-related labor and data requirements (with legal support as needed).

Time Commitment

• Minimum of 5 to 10 hours per week, flexible schedule
• Occasional team meetings within standard working hours (M–F, 9am–6pm ET)

Who You Are

• Experienced in HR, People Operations, or Organizational Development
• Ideally experience working for Non-Profit Organizations
• Skilled in systems-building and documentation; you love making things work smoothly
• Familiar with small org/startup dynamics, especially in remote and distributed teams
• Clear communicator who values transparency, inclusion, and collaboration
• Passionate about equity, education, or youth development
• Bonus: Experience with Microsoft tools (Teams, Planner, SharePoint)
