Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $87,000.00/yr

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a resilient, detail-oriented Human Resources Manager to lead and elevate the People Operations function across a multi-state workforce. This individual will be the backbone of HR compliance, employee relations, and payroll coordination, ensuring organizational alignment with New York labor laws and broader company policies. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of HR best practices, thrives in fast-paced, labor-intensive environments, and is comfortable navigating high-pressure employee relations with professionalism, discretion, and tact.

This is a high-impact role for someone who can maintain structure, inspire trust, and implement systems that support employee satisfaction while protecting the company from legal risk. OBJECTIVES

  • Lead and oversee a team of 4 direct reports on HR team
  • Ensure compliance with New York labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and HR documentation standards.
  • Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple pay cycles (weekly and bi-weeklyl) for 150+ employees, ensuring minimal to no payroll errors.
  • Oversee all aspects of recruitment, including job postings, applicant tracking, interview coordination, and backfilling roles to ensure timely hiring and workforce continuity.
  • Lead and monitor onboarding processes for all new hires, including remote employees, ensuring completion of required documentation, background checks, and training within their first 30 days.
  • Track and resolve employee relations issues, ensuring swift, tactful de-escalation and consistent documentation to minimize legal risk and uphold corporate standards.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and HR tickets within 48 hours, maintaining strong internal communication and documentation via tools like Slack, Rippling, and Monday.com
  • Administer and track employee benefits, including PTO, sick leave, 401(k) matching eligibility, and timely filing of workers’ tax credits (WOTC) and unemployment disputes
  • Drive workforce planning and performance initiatives, including KPI tracking, development plans, and supporting career growth into supervisory or management roles.
  • Support learning and development efforts, ensuring employees have access to upskilling opportunities and that certifications and required training are tracked and completed.
  • Proactively manage safety and compliance risks, including handling investigations, incident reports, and workers’ compensation claims

  • Ability to effectively communicate HR policies, procedures, and issues to employees and management.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and solve complex HR issues.
  • Strong sense of ethics and integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Commitment to maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and benefits administration software.
  • Competence in developing and implementing HR initiatives that support the organization’s strategic direction.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Manager
  • Proven, daily working knowledge of New York State labor laws
  • Experience working with a company with 100+ employees
  • Field-labor industry experience (highly desired)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk during working hours
