HR Manager – Education Sector (Puerto Rico Only)

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to lead and optimize all HR functions. The ideal candidate will bring strategic thinking, operational excellence, and a strong sense of ownership. This position is open only to professionals residing in Puerto Rico.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning & Talent Management Design HR policies aligned with institutional goals. Forecast talent needs. Manage departmental budgets and payroll (via Rippling). Drive culture initiatives and lead change management processes.
- Recruitment & Selection Lead hiring cycles, particularly for teaching and administrative staff. Approve key hires and collaborate with universities, job boards, and headhunters to attract top talent.
- Training & Development Develop and implement training and leadership programs. Promote professional growth and create educational initiatives related to school-age issues such as bullying or addictions.
- Performance, Compensation & Benefits Oversee performance management systems and connect results to promotions, raises, or improvement plans. Design competitive salary and benefits structures. Administer payroll and incentives.
- Employee Relations & Culture Foster a positive work environment through engagement and wellness strategies. Manage union interactions, legal compliance, and conflict resolution. Lead diversity and inclusion efforts.
- HR Technology & Team Leadership Implement HR software and automation tools. Use data analytics for decision-making. Lead the HR team and define KPIs. Act as a mentor and strategic advisor to leaders.
- Medical & Supplemental Benefits Coordinate medical coverage and additional benefits (e.g. cancer, hospitalization, disability). Liaise with providers and support employees with insurance-related needs.
Requirements & Skills
- Proven experience in a senior HR role, ideally managing diverse teams and functions.
- Deep understanding of Puerto Rico labor law.
- Leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proactive, empathetic, detail-oriented, and highly adaptable to change.
- Comfortable managing confidential information and complex situations with professionalism.
- Experience with tools such as Rippling, Slack, ClickUp, Notion, or Asana.
- Data-driven mindset and ability to align people strategies with business objectives.
