Job description

Delval Equipment is seeking an experienced, proactive Human Resources Manager to lead day-to-day HR operations across our Pennsylvania and Maryland locations. Reporting directly to Executive Management, you will serve as a trusted resource to employees and managers, overseeing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, and HR policies and compliance.

This position offers an opportunity to take ownership of our HR function while working closely with executive leadership and receiving support from our accounting and administrative teams. You'll have the autonomy to evaluate existing processes, introduce new practices, and implement improvements that strengthen our HR operations as the company grows.

We're looking for someone who brings initiative, sound judgment, and a desire to grow professionally. As Delval continues to expand, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to develop into a more strategic member of our management team, helping shape our people practices and supporting the company's long-term success.

Why Delval?

At Delval, your work directly supports the teams who keep critical boiler systems running safely and reliably. You'll work closely with our people and company leadership, with the opportunity to improve the HR practices that help the business operate effectively.

About Delval Equipment

Delval Equipment Corporation provides equipment sales, service, parts, and technical support for commercial and industrial boiler systems throughout the Mid-Atlantic. As an authorized Cleaver-Brooks representative, we serve customers from offices in Pennsylvania and Maryland and take pride in our technical expertise and customer relationships.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, personnel changes, leave administration, and separations.
  • Support managers with employee relations; prepare and review disciplinary documentation, attend sensitive meetings, and recommend practical next steps.
  • Apply company policies and working knowledge of employment-law fundamentals; recognize concerns and bring higher-risk matters to leadership.
  • Coordinate FMLA/ADA-related leave and accommodation processes, documentation, deadlines, and appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintain and help update the handbook, code of conduct, benefit policies, and HR practices for consistent application across locations.
  • Manage recruiting coordination, offers, and pre-employment screening; elevate incomplete or concerning background or motor-vehicle results before an approved start date.
  • Administer employee benefits and open enrollment; coordinate with vendors, payroll, and accounting on coverage and deductions.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential personnel records and assist with employee reporting and documentation.
  • Track workers’ compensation and automobile claims and follow up with insurers and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare HR correspondence, reports, and materials; support select leadership projects and employee training or company events.
  • Identify practical process improvements and use available administrative assistance appropriately.
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible, hands‑on human resources experience, with 5–8 years preferred, including meaningful experience across multiple stages of the employee lifecycle.
  • Practical experience in employee relations, disciplinary documentation, benefits administration, recruiting, leave management, and HR policies.
  • Working knowledge of applicable employment laws and HR compliance requirements, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and relevant state employment regulations.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to independently manage routine HR matters, provide sound recommendations, and recognize when additional management or legal guidance is necessary.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency, including formulas, lookups, sorting, filtering, pivot tables, and the ability to independently organize, reconcile, and analyze data for accuracy, trends, and discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities, and consistent follow-through on deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with employees, management, and external partners.
  • A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with the initiative to identify problems, recommend improvements, and develop more effective HR practices.
  • High standards of confidentiality, professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
  • Experience supporting employees in manufacturing, industrial equipment, field services, mechanical contracting, distribution, or a similar operational environment.
  • Experience working in a privately held, midsize, or multi‑location organization.
  • Familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS), applicant tracking systems (ATS), and AI‑enabled productivity tools.
  • Demonstrated experience improving HR processes, implementing new procedures, or supporting organizational growth.
