Are you a proactive HR leader ready to push the needle forward in a fast-paced, people-focused environment?
A well-established manufacturing supply chain integrator in northwest Indianapolis is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations and strategy across its growing team. If you're someone who thrives in a plant/warehouse setting, understands the full scope of HR and payroll, and is energized by culture-building and engagement, this could be your next big move.
This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the CEO in close collaboration with the leadership team. You’ll oversee the full HR function, including compliance, employee engagement, onboarding, safety, performance management, and payroll. You’ll also lead and mentor an HR Generalist professional, helping to elevate the HR function across the organization.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
HR Operations & Compliance
- Own and execute all core HR functions with a strong generalist foundation — including onboarding, benefits, policies, investigations, and recordkeeping.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws while acting as the in-house expert on employment-related regulations.
- Lead and support employee relations issues, coach managers through conflict resolution, and serve as a key resource on HR best practices.
Payroll & Systems
- Manage and oversee bi-weekly payroll processing; experience with Paylocity is a strong plus.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and backup readiness for payroll operations.
- Serve as a liaison between HR and Finance for audits, reporting, and reconciliation needs.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Drive initiatives that improve engagement and morale across both office and production teams.
- Design and execute inclusive company events and team-building activities beyond work-related topics to foster a culture of collaboration.
- Model and promote a positive, communicative, and collaborative culture at all levels of the organization.
Safety & Workplace Readiness
- Champion safety practices in a warehouse environment, including emergency planning, training, and incident follow-up.
- Lead efforts such as CPR training for supervisors and routine safety education.
Performance Management & Development
- Revamp and implement a performance management system that supports employee development, accountability, and feedback.
- Support managers with coaching, development tools, and clear documentation practices.
Strategic Leadership
- Contribute to executive-level decision-making and act as a thought partner to the leadership team.
- Bring an “owner’s mindset” to HR strategy — balancing tactical execution with big-picture planning.
- Collaborate closely with the Managing Director and CFO to identify operational improvements, policy updates, and talent needs.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead recruitment efforts for key roles, working in partnership with executive leadership.
- Build and launch a scalable onboarding program that reflects the company’s values and sets new hires up for success.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership in a plant or warehouse setting
- Strong HR generalist background with demonstrable knowledge of employment law, benefits, performance management, and employee relations
- Payroll proficiency is essential — experience with Paylocity is preferred
- Exceptional communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with production teams and upper-level management
- Strategic thinker who can also roll up their sleeves — this role is approximately 70% tactical / 30% strategic
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to lead with empathy, influence, and clarity
- Previous experience managing or mentoring an HR team member
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred)
WHY JOIN THIS TEAM?
- Leadership role with high visibility and strong executive support
- Opportunity to build and elevate core HR programs and culture from the ground up
- Collaborative environment where your voice is heard, and your work makes an impact
- Fast-paced industry with long-term clients and exciting challenges
- Monday–Friday schedule (with production teams working four 10s)
