Job summary

Engineered Wire is seeking an HR Generalist in Ohio to perform HR duties at the site level, partnering with the HR Team to support operations. The role covers employee relations, talent acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, safety, benefits administration, policy development, and employment law compliance.

Responsibilities include onboarding, interviewing, headcount reporting, HRIS usage, and data-driven decision support. Local travel between plants is required; manufacturing experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR management with 1–3 years of HR experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of HR principles and employment laws.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Proactive, discreet, and professional with good interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with talent acquisition for nonexempt personnel, students/interns, and temporary staff; write and place ads.
  • Oversee onboarding procedures and educate new hires on HR policies and benefits.
  • Administer stay and exit interviews to understand employee perspectives.
  • Maintain headcount and staff reporting for EW employees.
  • Utilize HR software to support payroll and benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for HR issues and generate internal documents as needed.
  • Support development of recognition and retention programs and engagement surveys.
  • Prepare and present HR data and key metrics to inform business decisions.
  • Assist with the safety program and other assigned duties.

Job description

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level for the assigned location(s) while working closely with the HR Team in supporting IWG operations. This position will assist in the following areas: employee relations and engagement, talent acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, safety, benefits administration, policy development and implementation, employment law compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform standard responsibilities as a Human Resource Generalist to include:

  • Assists with the talent acquisition process for all nonexempt personnel, students/interns and temporary employees; writes and places advertisements.
  • Oversee site level employee onboarding procedures, educating newly hired employees on HR policies, benefits, internal procedures, and regulations.
  • Administer stay and exit interviews to gain a better understanding from the perspective of our employees.
  • Maintains headcount/staff reporting for all IWG EW employees.
  • Regular use of HR software to support payroll and employee benefits.
  • Ensure physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records are maintained appropriately in compliance with all federal, state and local employment benefit laws and regulations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees concerning any human resources issues, generating official internal documents as required.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of employee recognition and retention programs including employee events, engagement surveys, etc.
  • Prepare and present HR data and report on key metrics to support business decisions.
  • Assists and participates with the safety program.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

  • Daily communication with HR Director to ensure objectives are met.
  • Support and comply with company policies and procedures as applicable.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications and Skills include:

  • Ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in human resources management with 1-3 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication skills, Organizational Skills, Relationship Management/Client-driven
  • Knowledge of HR principles and employment laws
  • Ability to manage time sensitive tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with an automated HRIS system
  • Must be initiative-taking and self-directed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High level of discretion and professionalism
Working Conditions
  • Standard Office Working Conditions with the ability to navigate the manufacturing space as well.
  • Local travel between plants is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Compensation range: $58,000 to $70,000
