Job Overview
: The HR Generalist serves as a key resource for employees, hiring managers, and organizational leaders, ensuring that HR processes are organized, timely, confidential, and responsive. The HR Generalist coordinates across departments and external providers to maintain accurate employee records, administer HR programs, support compliance requirements, and provide employees with clear information about organizational policies, benefits, and employment processes.The role is responsible for supporting the full employee lifecycle, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, service-oriented, discreet, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative workplace.
Essential Responsibilities and Functions:
- Manage recruitment, hiring, and employee onboarding. This will require exceptional organization and follow-through.
- Serve as a resource for employees on their available benefits, and assist in the administration of benefits.
- Maintain organized and confidential employee records, to support compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations
- Partner with payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of compensation changes, promotions, benefit deductions, leave changes, and terminations.
- Assist in the management of organization technology systems, as well as physical assets including computers
- Support safety regulations, and tracking of any safety incidents, especially as they relate to OSHA and workers compensation
- Coordinate employee offboarding, including exit documentation, benefits notifications, final payroll coordination, return of organizational property, and system access termination.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally with employees, prospective candidates, managers, vendors, and organizational leadership.
- Provides responsive, respectful, and approachable support to employees at all levels of the organization.
- Handle sensitive employee information, including compensation, benefits, and employee-relations information with discretion, sound judgment, and confidentiality.
- Approach employee and administrative questions thoughtfully, identifying appropriate resources, and following issues through to resolution.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field or 3+ years experience in a human resources role
- Experience managing confidential employee information.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with common workplace technology and software.
- Experience with benefits administration.
- Experience with HRIS or other HR technology platforms.
- Strong knowledge of NC labor laws, federal compliance, and workplace safety regulations.
- Familiarity with employment eligibility verification and related employment documentation.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, manufacturing, workforce-development, or mission-driven organization.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to occasionally lift 15 lbs-50 lbs.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and Drug Screen
- Ability to remain in a stationary position with computer work.
- Must be able to move about various office environments to access office machinery, products, and to communicate with staff.
- Ability to occasionally commute within the region.
- Must be able to reach/access products on high shelves.
- Ability to perceive and interpret information presented in written, printed, and digital formats
- Ability to receive and interpret spoken communication in person, by phone, and in virtual settings
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: Competitive, with an anticipated range of starting between $60,000-$70,000 based on experience.
