Job summary

UPMC Bedford Altoona is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our hospital HR team. This full-time role operates daylight hours, Monday through Friday, onsite at the hospital and supports both clinical and non-clinical departments.

The ideal candidate will independently provide strategic HR support, handle employee relations matters and investigations, contribute to retention and engagement initiatives, and prepare HR reports in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with two years of HR operations experience.
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business or related field with one year of HR operations experience preferred.
• Master's degree in HR, Business or related field.
• Completion of the UPMC Summer Associates Program/Pittsburgh Fellows Program required.

Responsibilities

• Participate on local and organization-wide committees that focus on projects advancing strategic goals.
• Communicate expectations with business, operational and HR partners to promote a One Team HR culture.
• Provide HR consulting on employee relations, policy, engagement, retention, safety and culture improvements.
• Use HR metrics to develop and implement initiatives improving the employee experience.

Job description

Our UPMC Bedford Altoona HR team is excited to announce an opportunity as a Human Resources Generalist! This is a full-time position that works daylight hours, Monday through Friday, onsite at the hospital.

In this role, the HR Generalist will independently provide strategic human resources support to a variety of clinical and non-clinical departments. Daily job responsibilities may include supporting staff and managers with employee relations matters, handling employee investigations and corrective action, working on retention and engagement initiatives, preparing HR reports, and much more!

Responsibilities

• Participate on local and/or organization wide committees that focus on projects that move the organization forward and towards meeting its strategic goals.
• Effectively communicate expectations with business, operational, and HR partners while promoting a One Team collaborative atmosphere in which all functions of HR work together as one team.
• Provide HR consulting services by partnering with business, operational, and HR leaders of the organization to recommend solutions on employee relations, policy and procedures, engagement and retention, employee safety, and cultural improvements.
• Utilize HR metrics to develop and implement initiatives that positively impact the organization and the employee experience.
• Drive and champion inclusion efforts and cultural improvement initiatives within the customer base
• High School Diploma/GED and two years of experience in human resources operations actively handling employee relations.
  • OR Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required with a preference of one year of human resources operations actively handling employee relations
  • OR Masters degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • OR successful completion of the UPMC Summer Associates Program/Pittsburgh Fellows Program required.
• Human resources education and/or work experience is preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification preferred.
