The Human Resources Generalist I serves as a core member of the Faculty and Employee Administrative Operations (FEAO) team within the Department of Medicine (DOM) at the University of Pittsburgh. This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of staff employment transactions across the full employee lifecycle — from new hire and onboarding through position changes, and separation — as well as student employment, and temporary staffing, as well as back up for staff supplemental pays and leave of absences.
The HR Generalist I partners closely with the Manager, Academic & Staff Affairs and serves as the primary transactional HR point of contact for DOM division administrators on staff employment matters. This role requires strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage a high volume of concurrent actions with accuracy and timeliness.
Preferred qualifications include:Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and document management platforms (SharePoint, OneDrive); Experience with DocuSign or a comparable electronic signature and workflow; Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to data accuracy and confidentiality; Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, managers, and division administrators at all levels.
Assists in the coordination of a broad range of human resources programs and in the management of the staffing and interview process. Coordinates trainings and processes payroll and human resources transactions.
Primarily sedentary work performed at a computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequent use of a keyboard, mouse, and telephone/headset.
Regular participation in virtual meetings via video conferencing platforms.
Occasional standing, walking, or movement within the office environment.
Ability to view a computer screen for prolonged periods with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimal lifting required' may occasionally lift or carry item such as files, documents, or office supplies not to exceed 10 pounds.
