Human Resources Director

Boone Supported Living LLC | Columbia Missouri | Full Time

Salary range $74,000 to $84,000 annually

Position Summary

Boone Supported Living provides residential and supported-living services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are seeking a hands-on Human Resources Director to lead the HR function and support a workforce operating across multiple Missouri communities. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and supervises the HR team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day HR operations and supervise, coach, and support HR staff.
• Maintain compliance with federal and Missouri employment laws, Department of Mental Health requirements, and organizational policies.
• Develop, review, communicate, and consistently administer policies, procedures, and HR systems.
• Advise leadership and managers on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and workplace concerns.
• Oversee workplace investigations and ensure issues are addressed promptly, consistently, and thoroughly.
• Manage benefits administration, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, FMLA, leaves of absence, and related documentation.
• Provide oversight of recruiting, onboarding, retention, training coordination, and employee records.
• Track HR trends and workforce needs, identify risks, and recommend practical improvements.
• Balance operational needs, regulatory requirements, and fair treatment of employees while supporting services for the people we serve.

Required Qualifications

• At least five years of progressive human resources experience.
• Previous HR leadership or supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience with employment compliance, employee relations, investigations, and policy administration.
• Working knowledge of benefits, workers' compensation, unemployment, FMLA, and leave administration.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and communicate clearly with employees and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
• HR experience in intellectual and developmental disability services, healthcare, behavioral health, residential services, or another highly regulated environment.
• Experience supporting a geographically dispersed, around-the-clock workforce.

The successful candidate will establish consistent HR practices, strengthen compliance, support managers in making well-documented decisions, and provide employees with reliable and professional HR support.
