Job summary

The City of Pasadena is seeking a Housing Assistant to manage an assigned caseload for the Housing Choice Voucher program. You will handle initial placements, annual and interim reexaminations, rent calculations, and landlord communications to ensure participant requirements are met.

You will prepare HAP contracts, process rent payments, and respond to daily inquiries from participants and owners while maintaining required HUD documentation and certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
• HUD certifications in eligibility, occupancy, rent calculation, and HQS within one year.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an assigned caseload for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.
• Conduct annual and interim reexaminations of tenant files and verify income.
• Calculate tenant rent and prepare data for reporting and documentation.
• Enter data into computer and print family/owner documents; communicate with families and landlords.
• Prepare and review monthly housing payroll and HAP contracts; handle daily inquiries.
