Job summary

Newport News Public Schools seeks an HRIS Specialist to support the district's HRIS operations, maintain accurate employee data, ensure data confidentiality, and provide technical support to HR and NNPS staff. You will work with the HRIS Coordinator and Technology personnel to ensure system effectiveness.

Responsibilities include conducting data audits, training HR users on HRIS navigation, and assisting with HRIS training programs to maintain proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or related field, or equivalent combination of experience
• Knowledge of HRIS processes and data management principles
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Access
• Experience handling confidential data and delivering customer service
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Support regular data audits by reviewing records and flagging discrepancies
• Provide technical support and assist training HR users to navigate the HRIS
• Assist HRIS training programs to ensure user proficiency
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and maintain data security
• Collaborate with HR stakeholders and HRIS Coordinator to meet system needs
• Streamline HR processes and ensure data quality across systems
• Participate in HR projects related to system implementations and automation
• Serve as a point of contact for HRIS inquiries and issue resolution
• Maintain data processing and supplementary HR databases
• Provide front desk backup and clerical support as needed
• Schedule appointments and confidentially manage information
• Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
