Job summary

Clemson University is seeking an HR Service Manager to lead HR support within the HR service center. The role covers recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, engagement and classification and compensation, ensuring efficient administration of HR processes.

The incumbent provides guidance to customers across the employee lifecycle, partners with HR leadership, and ensures compliance with University policies, state and federal regulations, while driving continuous improvement in service

Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides HR support as a HR service center generalist to assigned budget centers. Provides support and consultation for customers on the entire employee life cycle This includes HR processes and functions such as recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, employee engagement and classification and compensation. Ensures the efficient and effective administration of all HR processes and programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:
  • 20% - Teamwork and Collaboration: Collaborate with subject matter experts and HR leadership to design, develop, improve and implement HR programs and processes. Identify continuous improvement opportunities regularly to exceed internal(OHR) and external customer expectations. Act as a leader and change agent for OHR by leading by example and developing new, proactive approaches to exceed customer expectations and provide the full HR Service taxonomy and taking OHR to the next level of service.
  • 20% - HR Consultation and Guidance: Manage all types of personnel requests for employees as assigned, working with supervisors, leaders, and HR service teams to pro-actively and consistently implement organizational changes and compensation actions and to implement HR strategic business plans for each division as designed and within policies and regulations. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for employee performance management and employee relations issues as necessary.
  • 30% - Classification and Compensation Management: Using independent discretion and critical decision making to provide support and direction to meet the recruiting and compensation needs of the assigned area. Provide guidance on compensation and classification requests and works collaboratively with the functional Compensation HR and Talent Acquisition teams. Ensure fair and equitable treatment on compensation matters.
  • 30% - HR Oversight: Provide customer-focused HR support in a manner consistent with University, State and Federal policies, procedures and regulations. Provide reliable and accurate information and guidance on HR processes and practices. Work constructively and collaboratively across the Clemson HR team to effectively exercise HR processes. Work effectively and proactively with HR customers and university leadership to ensure all HR programs, processes and customer needs are successfully achieved. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert in multiple HR functions as necessary to meet and exceed customer needs.

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and experience in human resources management programs.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
