Job summary

Clemson University is seeking a Financial Analyst to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for assigned units in Clemson, SC. The role serves as the main financial contact to unit leaders and works closely with the SCI Financial Services Manager.

Responsibilities include managing the FAST database, process improvements, and producing internal/external financial reports to inform decision making. This is a Regular FTE Staff position with standard hours.

  • Prepare annual budgets, monitor funding, and act as Budget Approver in Workday.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for financial planning and analysis (FA&P) including budgeting, forecasting, and analytical processes that support the financial health and strategic plan of assigned units (department/school/center). Main financial point of contact for unit leader(s); works closely with and reports to the SCI Financial Services Manager. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES
  • 5% - FAST Database Management: Review, edit, and/or enter funding account numbers for stipends and GADs on the FAST Assistantship/Fellowship database with assistance from faculty Graduate Coordinators, Student Services Coordinators, and Office Managers.
  • 25% - Process Improvement/Staff Support: Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates existing functions to develop improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity. Assists unit leaders in developing business cases for new revenue generating programs. Works to establish transparency of operating expenses and net-revenue of non-traditional programs (i.e., online summer, masters) and advises unit leaders to make informed decisions on supported programs. Review, update, or assist with creation of billing rates, as needed. Assist with processing relocation reimbursements. Marketplace financial contact for assigned depts.
  • 35% - Financial Analysis: Manages financial operations and ensures compliance with associated federal and state laws. Manages and directs the preparation, and reconciliation of accounts. Collects, assimilates, and ensures accuracy of financial data for internal and external reporting requirements. Reconciles situations when files are out of balance. Researches errors and ensures corrective action is taken. Provides internal auditing. Conducts data mining and analysis to determine trends and project future financial performance to inform long-range plan. Monitor CUF spending and advise on appropriate use of CUF funds.
  • 35% - Financial Planning: Prepares and submits annual budgets and budget requests working closely with unit leaders and direct supervisor. Prepares financial reports and communicates to unit and leadership on a regular basis; advises unit leaders on availability and allocation of funding for department initiatives. Manages and monitors start-up commitments with faculty and unit lead. Enter budget amendments, journals, and payroll corrections. Review and advise on funding source for summer school/pay. Serve as Budget Approver for assigned departments in Workday.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field and professional experience directly related, such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range: 52100.00 - 60180.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
